This uku is perfect! It sounds amazing and it looks amazing too! The only downside is the strings are too farr aways from the uke itself so you have to press extra hard on them and that may strain fingers. Other than that it is great!

5 out of 5 stars amazing ukulele for beginners   February 16, 2010

I teach ukulele to elementary school children. I bought 50 of these of all different colors for the first time 5 years ago. The kids used acrylic paint to put their names on them and decorate them. One important note is that ALL new ukuleles go out of tune minutes after they are tuned and keep going out of tune all the time until about two weeks. (Even the best new ukuleles go out of tune a lot the first week.) These ukuleles STAY in tune after a month. Just be patient and keep tuning them. The more times you do it each day the sooner they will keep their tune.

Their tone is actually great even for me to play. You really cannot go wrong. The price another plus.

I did buy some extra strings since now and then the kids overtightened them and they snapped and broke.

I just got this ukulele, and I have to say that it is basically perfect- especially for a beginner like me- in every way except one. It looks exactly like it does in the photo, and plays beautifully, but it goes out of tune REALLY quickly. I tuned it, played a little song, set it down for maybe 30 minutes, and when I came back it was totally out of tune. For those who can tune easily by ear, this may not be such a problem, but otherwise it's really frustrating to have to adjust it so frequently. Other than that, it's still a great ukulele for beginners.
