Product Description
Simply the best entry-level uke on the market. Sound and playability usually suffer at these affordable prices, but not with Makala. Fantastic sound and looks and easy on the wallet. Package includes: MK-T Ukulele UB-T Gig Bag, a great value and protection, 12mm padding, accessory pocket, Black Cordura material, adjustable shoulder strap. KC-02 Clip-On Chromatic Tuner

My Makala tenor uke arrived on time and in perfect condition (packaged very well). Not a scratch or blemish on the finish. It comes with black strings, I think they are nylon, and held it's tuning pretty much right from the start. All the frets are smooth and the action is nice. Once I found the "sweet spot" it has a nice, rich tone. I also bought a Mahalo soprano uke, but find it a bit too small for me, and a little "tinny". I'd definitely recommend the Makala as an excellent starter instrument for someone who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a decent uke.

5 out of 5 stars All in one package and helpful tuner   August 4, 2010

It came as a package. Sent on time. The bag they provide is a bit flimsy and it broke after the first week. Uke was what I was looking for. Tuner was a blessing in disguise. I am new to Uke playing and the tuner made it easy for me to tune it.

Use the case now just to keep it covered. Will be looking for a better traveling case.

My husband is a string musician. He loves all things strings. Each year he asks for a new instrument he's never played before. This year he asked for a Uke for his birthday. Neither he or I knew very much about ukes so I searched for an all in one package. I am so happy i chose this one. He loves the uke and stoked about the tuner. The strings go out of tune pretty easily, and the wood seems a little flimsy so if you're an avid Uke player you should look else where. But if you're a beginner or just a collector of all string instruments this one is for you. He loved his gift and I looked like a hero.

4 out of 5 stars Very Nice Uke But Flimsy   May 12, 2010

When I ordered this I was practically dancing with anticipation for it to arrive, and it didn't take long. It came quickly and in perfect condition, however, when I opened the box I was unpleasantly surprised. First, the wood was unfinished, which I hadn't been expecting. It wasn't laminated or finished with gloss or anything, it's just the rough raw wood. The other thing, and I think this is the more important, it was very light, and it feels VERY flimsy in my hands. I wouldn't recommend this for young kids or careless people, because I have a feeling it will break very easily. One more thing, the gig-bag looks and feels cheaper that it looked in the photo. That compared with the flimsy lightness, I don't expect this uke to stand up to very rough conditions. That being said:

It sounds great. I'm not any uke expert, but I've got 2 now, and I love this one in particular. The strings are closer to the fingerboard than my other, which makes for nicer playability. I've had it for maybe a month now, and the strings are still having trouble holding their tuning, but not much, so it's not a problem. Speaking of tuning, the tuner that comes with this uke is PHENOMENAL!

Overall, I LOVE this uke. The size is perfect, and, like I said, it sounds great. I'm sure a more advanced uke player might prefer a more expensive/high quality model, but for me, a person who just loves to sit, strum, and sing along, it's absolutely perfect. I might try to find a hard case for it, then I could breathe easier knowing it won't get destroyed so easily. If you're looking for an inexpensive but good uke, this is PERFECT for you.

4 out of 5 stars Great Buy, Very Happy   June 24, 2010
New Player (USA)
Purchased this Uke as a new player and I am really happy. The construction is good, sound is great and loud, nice strings and stays in tune. The gig bag is well made and the tuner is great. This is a good buy for a starting player.

Now, only 2 weeks later I feel like I am making some progress.

When you get your new Ukulele, check out Ukulele Mike on You Tube. Great help for a beginner player.
